Summary
- Context: an accounting firm needed to keep Agenzia delle Entrate applications from different years usable in the same Windows environment.
- My role: I diagnosed the incompatibilities, isolated Java runtimes per application, and verified coexistence across the tools.
- Problem: one global Java configuration could not satisfy every application; fixing one program could break another.

Operational Context
The environment was Windows and included applications from different years and families, including:
- IRAP 2019-2021;
- ISA;
- Desktop Telematico / Entratel;
- other applications with different Java dependencies.
The need was not to build a new product, but to preserve operational continuity for tools already used by the firm.
Problem
The applications did not share the same runtime requirements. A global Java configuration could make one program work while breaking another.
The problem involved:
- different Java versions;
- different launch modes;
- applications started through JNLP;
- applications packaged with LaunchAnywhere;
- specific communication, TLS and truststore requirements for Desktop Telematico / Entratel.
My Intervention
I worked on diagnosis, isolation, and verification:
- isolated Java runtimes per application;
- handled JNLP and LaunchAnywhere startup differences;
- treated Desktop Telematico / Entratel requirements separately;
- removed the dependency on a single global Java configuration;
- ran cross-checks to verify application functionality and coexistence.

This intervention shows a method that also applies to larger software systems:

Method Connection
This case is different from backend projects, but it follows the same principle: governing the relationships between components, dependencies, and execution environments while considering the effects of changes on the whole system.
